BIO

Economist with a master's degree in public policy. More than eight years of experience analyzing and developing regulations and public policies related to renewable energy and energy transition in LATAM.

Monica worked at the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia where she was in charge of leading the country's Energy Transition strategies; was the coordinator of the Energy Transformation Mission for the modernization of the power sector, Lead the Geothermal initiative and the Hydrogen strategy of the country.

Monica has also worked in companies such as SerColombia, Ernst & Young, Fedesarrollo and ANDEG developing and implementing strategies related to energy and sustainable mobility.

Q & A

1) What does your organization do in the energy transition?

The Colombian Hydrogen Association promotes the use of clean hydrogen and its derivatives in the Colombian market, aimed at developing a low carbon economy. Furthermore we work to create a regional hydrogen market and to position LATAM as a hydrogen exporting region.

2) Why did you agree to get involved in the Lisbon Energy Summit?

Creating international partnerships is key to materialice the world hydrogen market. Colombia is positioned as a future hydrogen exporter and will supply a part of the demand coming from Europe and Asia.

3) What is one thing as an industry/society we can do today to move the needle on accelerating the transition?

Being more aware of our carbon footprint and promoting the knowledge and technologies that help reduce CO2 emissions.
